Cupcakes Now Banned

How in the world do schools ban cupcakes.  Maybe one of the problems with schools nowadays is the fact that the little fun and enjoyment are gone.  School used to be a place where you not only learned the ABC’s, but began to enjoy the company of others.  How does a school go to banning cupcakes.  As students face the pressure of taking more standardized tests schools also continue to take away the little things that we used to all look forward to.  Gone is dodgeball, the pledge is under fire.  Those with peanut allergies need to be segregated at lunch.  Any decoration for any holiday is banished to the bottom of the closets and now cupcakes.  Is it me or do you think that kids might of looked forward to these things just a little bit.  Do cupcakes really put that much of a dent in the learning curve.  I know that they say it is for health reasons, but don’t you think that these kids are getting their cupcake fix somewhere else?

It almost adds truth to the statement, “I hate going to school.” Times have changed – that’s for sure! Great work on this blog!

I agree times have changed and that is exactly why cupcakes should be banned from school… Many children are over weight and since they WILL get there fix somewhere else is why schools should not sale cupcakes. Children use to play outside for hours to use up the energy from the cupcake…now they sit infront of a computer…

I am on the fence about this issue. I do feel as though children are overweight and we need to start addressing the problem but we have to be careful to not take everything away from our children. We should be looking at other issues such as time in front of the computer verses time doing physical activity. I also think their over all diets need to be looked at. There are so many more junk foods and sugar snacks around now and children are eating them. It is a whole picture that needs to be looked at, not just cupcakes.

First of all, there are more important things in life than cupcakes……… How about wiffle ball in the schools? How come we don’t have a wiffle ball team, and when is the tournament? I already have my team!

It is true. Students are losing out in terms of enjoyment. Liability issues today are significant. Law suites are to blame in my opinion.School is turning into a business. Students have to do more in less time.

Yes they do, but they are still kids. They have the rest of their lives to work. Let school be enjoyable sometimes.

Cupcakes banned in schools, this is definitely news to me. It seems like twice a week a student is bringing me extra cupcakes from their b-day party! I definitely think that children should watch their weight, especially what they eat in schools! But it starts with cafeteria food, not banning a great snack that they eat once in a while!
